Aims and scopes

The potential scope of nanobiotechnology is broad. Sub-categories include development, design and synthesis of biocompatible bio/nano-materials; nanocomposites; nanoscale biomaterials; bio-encapsulation, bio-adsorption, controlled release of biomolecules; interactions studies of biomolecules/nanomaterials with cells, tissues, and living organisms; drug and gene delivery; molecular recognition techniques; nanocrystals and bio-crystallization processes; nanoparticles as biomarkers; theranostics and diagnostics tools; biomimetics of biological materials; nanoscale genetics and genome research; proteomics and protein-based nanostructures; nanotechnologies for cell and tissues; disease control; cancer therapeutics; nanoscale imaging; spectroscopic studies of bio/nano-materials; toxicology; nutrition.

Types of manuscript

Original Papers: Are full-length descriptions of extensive and significant experimental and/or theoretical studies.

Research Papers: Papers are published in English and should be double spaced with uniform size and a wide margin on the left. The headings order is: Title, Abstract, Key Words, Introduction, Experimental, Results and Discussion, Conclusions, Acknowledgements, and References. Tables and Figures should be inserted in the manuscript word-processor file, where first mentioned in the text.

Short Communications: Must be complete, self-contained papers, and not preliminary reports. The style and presentation should conform to that laid down for Manuscripts Preparation, but the length should not exceed three printed journal pages.

Reviews: Will usually be written at the invitation of the editors. Nevertheless, authors wishing to submit a review are requested to consult them prior to commencement.

Manuscript Preparation

Title: The Title of the Article should be Precise and Brief and Must Not Be More Than 120 Characters. Authors should avoid the Use of Non-Standard Abbreviations. Subsequently the author(s) name(s) and affiliations should be followed with an asterisk appearing on that of the corresponding author.

Abstract: An abstract of maximum 250 words should contain a brief and factual account of the contents and conclusions of the paper as well as a description of any new information presented.

Keywords: 6 to 8 keywords must be provided.

Introduction: A full-length paper should present a short but rather comprehensive introduction that makes a clear account of previous related research and states justifications for the work.

Section headings should be numbered sequentially, left aligned and have the first letter capitalized, starting with the introduction. Sub-section headings however should be in lower-case and italicized with their initials capitalized. They should be numbered as 1.1, 1.2, etc.

Materials and Methods (For Research Papers only): This section provides details of the methodology used along with information on any previous efforts with corresponding references.  Any details for further modifications and research should be included. For known compounds procedures that were already reported in previous publication should be cited but not reported in detail.

Results and Discussion: The Results and discussions may be presented individually or combined in a single section with short and informative headings. The novelty and significance of original and important findings should be discussed, compared, and contrasted to those in the literature.

Standard Protocal on Approvals, Registrations, Patient Consents and Animal Protection: All clinical investigations must be conducted according to the declaration of helsinki principles. Authors must comply with the guidelines of the international committee of medical journal editors (www.icmje.org) with regard to the patient's consent for research or participation in a study.

Conclusion: The concluding lines of the article may be presented in a short section of conclusion.

Acknowledgements: All individuals listed as authors must have contributed substantially to the design, performance, analysis, or reporting of the work and are required to indicate their specific contribution. Anyone (individual/company/institution) who has substantially contributed to the study for important intellectual content, or who was involved in the article’s drafting the manuscript or revising must also be acknowledged.

[8] Citations for articles/material published exclusively online or in open access (free-to-view), must contain the accurate Web addresses (URLs) at the end of the reference(s), except those posted on an author’s Web site (unless editorially essential), e.g. ‘Reference: Available from: URL’.

Tables: Each table should have a title that makes its general meaning understandable without reference to the text. It should be typed in double spacing and referred to (in the text) via Arabic numbers.

Figures/Illustrations: Figures include diagrams, graphs, spectra, photographs, and all other types of illustrations presented in the Journal. All authors must strictly follow the guidelines below for preparing illustrations for publication. Illustrations should be embedded in the text file, and must be numbered consecutively in the order of their appearance. Structures and reaction Schemes should not be entitled as Figures. Each figure should include only a single illustration which should be cropped to minimize the amount of space occupied by the illustration. If a figure is in separate parts, all parts of the figure must be provided in a single composite illustration file. Different parts of the Figure should be identified in the caption using a, b, etc. Each Figure must be referred to by its number at least once in the manuscript text. Color figures should be supplied in CMYK not RGB colors.

Chemical Structures: Chemical structures MUST be prepared in ChemDraw and provided as a separate file.

Crystallographic Structure: Crystallographic structure determinations should include: crystal data, positional parameters (partial), selected bond lengths and bond angles; as well as a drawing of the crystal or molecular structure with numbering.

List of Abbreviations: If abbreviations are used in the text either they should be defined in the text where first used, or a list of abbreviations can be provided.

Text Preparation: The final text should be submitted via our online submission system (www. Advnanotech.ir) as a Microsoft Office Word document.

Copyright: Upon acceptance of an article, authors will be asked to complete a 'Journal Publishing Agreement' An e-mail will be sent to the corresponding author confirming receipt of the manuscript together with a 'Journal Publishing Agreement' form or a link to the online version of this agreement.

Referees: Please submit, with the manuscript, the names, addresses and e-mail addresses of three potential referees who are willing to review the article (please obtain confirmation from the referees before submitting your manuscript). Note that the editor retains the sole right to decide whether or not the suggested reviewers are used.

Revised version of the manuscript: On the basis of the comments of the referees and editors, Authors may be asked to revise their manuscript. In order to facilitate the evaluation of the revisions by the referees and editors, upon revision, Authors are asked:

• to indicate all changes to the original manuscript by means of 'track changes'

• to add a letter for the referees, explaining how they dealt with all of the recommendations and questions from the referees. Authors should submit their revised version no later than 1 month after they were informed about the decision that the manuscript needs revision. If no revised manuscript is received 1 month after the decision, the manuscript will be considered as rejected.

Online proof correction: After acceptance, corresponding authors will receive an e-mail with a link to our online proofing system, allowing annotation and correction of proofs online. The environment is similar to MS Word: in addition to editing text, you can also comment on figures/tables and answer questions from the Copy Editor. Web-based proofing provides a faster and less error-prone process by allowing you to directly type your corrections, eliminating the potential introduction of errors. We will do everything possible to get your article published quickly and accurately. Please use this proof only for checking the typesetting, editing, completeness and correctness of the text, tables and figures. Significant changes to the article as accepted for publication will only be considered at this stage with permission from the Editor. It is important to ensure that all corrections are sent back to us in one communication. Please check carefully before replying, as inclusion of any subsequent corrections cannot be guaranteed.
